Just Say It Straight

I have had it with euphemisms

That make negative things sound so good.

Articulate the truth of the matter,

If you don’t mind and if you would.

When I no longer have a job,

Because of someone else you have hired.

Don’t tell me that I’ve only been downsized,

Just tell me straight that I’ve been fired.

When the dusk of my life has come,

Don’t like the cockneys call it brown bread.

Instead, give my family the benefit of the doubt,

And just them that I am dead.

I don’t know the genesis of euphemisms,

But today I hear them for sex like a barrage.

Like the student who told me her parents told her

Never let anyone park in her garage.

Just say it as straight as can be,

So children and others are not too confused.

Speak words that people can understand,

And don’t try to camouflage the news.

Fandango prompt is Euphemism. Ragtag prompt is Articulate.
