I have never understood the fascination of fishing, but my mother would continue to fish all day, even when she did not catch anything. In a rainstorm, she would keep fishing, until her children started screaming that they were afraid of the lightning! Fishing for Mama was a way to relieve stress, and it was... Continue Reading →
Faith Created in an Invisible World
I started dwelling in an invisible world when I was in the fifth grade, to feel normal and to find a place where life was sane. I don't even remember when it began; I woke up one day and realized that I had a space inside of me with a family that consisted of a... Continue Reading →
God’s Weight-Loss Plan for Endurance
The author of Hebrews recommends laying aside all of the weight, including our sins, that encumber us in the race to eternal life. These actions allow us to demonstrate faith in Jesus Christ, whose birth, death, and resurrection is the basis of our faith in God and our belief in a better home to aspire to, one not made by human hands. Stripping off the weight means letting go of our hurts, heartbreaks, and humiliations; our broken dreams, broken hearts, and broken promises; and our fears, failures, and frustrations. This emotional baggage often hinders our faith, and causes us to doubt the One who paid the ultimate price for our redemption.
Hindering God’s Healing
I was talking with some Hindus about Christianity. They were excited that a Christian group was coming to town and holding a healing service. Listening, I realized that it was it was one of those that preached that you had to come to them because they had something special. I wasn’t sure what. It could... Continue Reading →
Don’t Let Me Die Like a Dog in the Street

Who Controls You?
I was watching the most evil man I had ever met. As he was cooking, he was tossing a ball up and catching it. Each time, a waiter ducked. Eventually, the waiter was distracted, and at that pointthe cook nailed him with the ball. The waiter then took his turn. With no sense of torture,... Continue Reading →
Eagle’s Wings
I was backpacking. It was a long uphill trail. My legs were getting very rubbery. Then I looked up and saw an eagle soaring effortlessly uphill. It simply spread its wings and the updrafts lifted it higher and higher. It didn’t have to do anything. Oh how I wished I had eagle’s wings that day.... Continue Reading →

It’s Not Over Yet! Get Up!
So often when troubles and trials come and seem insurmountable, one of the first things that some people do is succumb to the belief that all is lost. It's easy to do, especially when you cannot see how the situation can end in your favor. But, I am a living witness that when life seems... Continue Reading →
An Angel Who Prayed for Us
When I read the book of Job, I am astonished to know that at one time I thought just as his friends did, meaning that when bad things happen, it must mean someone has sinned. It did not help that I was ashamed of how I was living. So, when my 10-month-old son was diagnosed... Continue Reading →
