The Light in Me

There seems to be a light instilled in me

Meant to show other people the way

To believe in their value and their worth,

And to find joy in living each day.

It’s as if Someone has plugged me in,

I can feel the current of urgency

To write words that motivate and inspire,

As though there is a social emergency.

And well I know the need for hope today,

When it seems as though few even care.

Because love is light and will dispel the darkness,

Lord, let the words I write chase away despair.
