It was hard for Kabir to select the perfect case for traveling, not knowing how far he had to go to find a job that suited his talents. It was no ordinary quest but the chance to redefine who he believed himself to be. He didn’t want to be buried in the same place as all of his family, with a low salary and where chances for upward mobility were as elusive as rain during a long drought.
His unflagging commitment was to giving his children a change in their lives, an ordinary life where struggle was not a daily part of living. He knew that it would take all of his ingenuity to move out of the darkness of poverty and into the sunlight of a life punctuated with joy and laughter. So, he will scatter fear and uncertainty to the winds and go to America. He will take the unfamiliar path to the land of amber waves of grain, which is painted as the land of opportunity. He owes it to the next generation but also to himself!
Written for What Do You See #202 from Sadje at Life after 50 for Women. I used the 12 prompts of Wordle #338 from Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie in bold letters. Fandango One Word Challenge prompt is Paint.

You’ve painted his dreams so beautifully Regina. Thanks for joining in with this uplifting story.
