Psalm 34: 4-7 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
King David believed in the power of God to rescue individuals from their fears and troubles. Certainly, he had seen God work in his life so many times that he was confident in his beliefs. It is because when we encounter the Lord and see His great works that our testimonies are so strong, for we know that what He did for us, He will do for others.
Moreover, there must have been plenty of opportunities for King Davis to realize that angels were encamped around him in his troubles, such as when King Saul sought to kill him or Absalom’s betrayal. He knew that his rescues were God-sized miracles and that he had not saved himself.
King David assures us that the Lord will hear and answer. He proclaims that the people saved would show radiant faces to the world because no shame would mar their facial features. Instead, there would be a glow that can only come from an encounter with the Lord.
Whatever the troubles you carry today or the fears that have paralyzed your life from moving forward, give them to the Lord. Call on the One Who Sees Me (El Roi: Genesis 16:13). He will hear and answer, as King David testifies. I am a living witness that the Lord will make a way for us to escape from the violence and troubles of this life.
Call on Him. Just say, “Lord, Jesus, help me!” You don’t need long and impassioned prayers with a lot of words. His angels are encamped around you right now, and they will serve as instruments of His deliverance in your life. Glory to God our Father and Redeemer!
Amen.
