The quarrel over who would do which chores had gone on for nearly two days! Nick and Sharon wondered if the marriage had been a mistake. They disagreed on who would clean the toilet, change the newspaper in the cat’s litter box, and clean up the confetti in the basement from the get-together with friends last weekend. They shouted at each other over whose responsibility it was to ensure that the clock changed to Daylight Savings Time because they were not late for church. Both felt rejected and disappointed that they could not find a middle ground. What to do?
Finally, sitting down to discuss the issues, they agreed that marriage was incomparable to any other experience. Could love be enough to save the marriage? They decided that love was the node in a good marriage. Love is the point that connects all of their dreams and hopes. As Christians, they know that 1 Corinthians says that love is patient, kind, not proud, doesn’t insist on having its way, doesn’t keep a record of wrongs, trusts, hopes, and perseveres.
So, they made a great decision, considering that they both had demanding jobs: Whoever gets home first and sees a chore needs doing will take care of it. Big jobs like the confetti will take both to do right and in a timely manner. No job will be male or female; it is just a task to keep the home clean and happy.
Love blooms again!

Thanks for the inclusion Regina. Glad they found a compromise. Hubby and I share the chores, no his and hers, although there are some things I can’t do and he leaves all money matters to me. We even had His and Hers hoovers in the cottage as I couldn’t get on with a cylinder so had an upright and he had the Henry.
Our neighbours classified chores as either pink or blue and that worked for them. Sadly he passed away five years ago and she says all the jobs are purple now.
