Look at the Heart, Not the Exterior, to See the Real Person

He had quite a grip,

As he pulled me from the ground.

I smiled at him in genuine thanks,

And I was glad that I was unbound.

Then, he asked if I wanted coffee,

And I admit that he was really cute.

But the fabric used in his cloth belt

Was made crudely with some jute.

I hesitated to accept his invitation,

Thinking he was no love candidate for me.

But his kindness and compassion were evident,

And I went with him willingly.

Written for The Three Things Challenge #M794: fabric, cloth, jute. Ragtag Daily Prompt is Grip. The Daily Spur prompt is Candidate.
