Shout Down Your Jericho Walls

Joshua 6: 20 When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.

Sometimes we feel walled-in due to trials and struggles. The walls tend to make us feel there is no way out and that the way life is today will always be. Every day looks like a mirror of yesterday.

Your walks may be financial, marital, physical health, mental health, or personal relationships. We seem to have come to a place where there seems no way forward.

Today I want to encourage you to remember that walks are constructed by our fears, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger. So if they are made and are not natural obstacles, they can be deconstructed.

In Joshua 6, the Israelites encountered a walled city that seemed invincible, but God had given them a plan that they needed to execute exactly. It worked for them.

I don’t know if all the trumpet playing had weakened the walls of Jericho and the shout undermined the structure. You can see that I always look for ways to understand the Bible, but I know that the Lord has overcome the world and can do miracles we don’t understand.

So, today, shout out words of affirmation, such as I am victorious, I will not be defeated, I trust you, Lord, to be with me. Then make a plan and stick to it. Trust and believe! Watch your Jericho walls fall!

Amen.

  1. Amen! We so need to speak to ourselves and encourage ourselves in the Lord as David did when his city Ziklag was burned down and pillaged. Paul said, The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 CORINTHIANS 10

  2. Our words are so powerful, Regina, and they make our way. When we agree with God, and speak his word, the angels accomplish it. We are overcome any the blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony!
