Budapest, You Stole My Heart! Hope to See You Again!

Budapest was an amazing city to visit. I liked everything I saw, especially the architecture, a boat ride on the Danube, and wonderful sculptures and statues. Our Airbnb was in the city center, and we could walk for groceries, restaurants, and museums. Indeed, our step counts ranged from 13000-22000. European cities have cars, but it is possible to walk everywhere you need to go. The pedestrians have the right-of-way, and cars stop for pedestrians. If they don’t stop, you can assume they are American or other visitors.

Budapest has a sad history, and they have only been an independent nation for less than 50 years, with the Russians liberating the city from Germany, but remaining to rule them through communism, It was like the proverbial saying: Out of the pan and into the fire! The Jewish history reminds me that anti-semitism is not new. We visited the Great Synagogue, aka The Dohany Street Synagogue, which is the second largest synagogue in the world! it sits 3000 people. However, it resembles a Catholic Church, because after WWII, some Jews chose assimilation to try and fit in and not suffer discrimination and prejudice.

A Tree ton Honor the over 400,000 Jews who were killed. There are mass graves here.

One of the most iconic tours I ever took while traveling was a Street Art tour of Pest. Led by a guy named ET, it was the highlight of this year’s travel so far. I never think to look at the graffiti or art pasted on walls, with the exception of murals. So, this was a learning experience for me. Here are some examples.

I took na lot of pictures for Pull Up a Set and Thursday Doors, for when I get home. We are in Porto with. Family now, and I am just chilling and enjoying listening to grandkids’s stories and adventures since our last visit. I will post more when I get home and learn how to present pictures like the travel bloggers do.
