Finally Connected with the Rest of Humanity

Jade left the orphanage at age eleven. She was at the bottom of the hierarchy in a place where no one was wanted, because she had no idea where she came from or knew her family history like other people. Did a stork leave her on the porch? These questions had haunted her every step. But maybe change was coming.

Last week, she received a summons to court to submit DNA to see if she was related to the claimant, who resides in a castle in Scotland. As a mixed-race American, isn’t it absurd that her origins are in this land? Maybe that’s why she was such a fan of the Vikings. It explains why her heart flares up at the thought of traveling, as their blood and wanderlust are in her veins.

Standing in the courtroom, she was stunned to learn that her DNA matched that of the claimant, and as she approached the ancient castle, she could feel a pull and a sense of deja vu, as if she was entering a familiar place. She flew across the stone bridge in total gratefulness, thinking that she was finally connected to the rest of humanity. Her history was just beyond the gate, and she couldn’t wait to learn her story.
