I decided to try to get part of my life back. We visited Gibbs Gardens yesterday, on the way to a training in Spiritual Gifts at a church in Jasper, Georgia, whose pastor was once the pastor at our church. I wanted to see the trees and flowers of the gardens before our annual membership expired. The wildflowers were in bloom, and a few roses. The Japanese maples had not turned to the beautiful red leaves we saw last year, so I hope we will return before Thanksgiving to see the transformation and color extravaganza. We missed the monarchs because Gibbs Gardens is a certified way station with masses of flowers and the right plants to attract them. Douglas got one picture of a monarch, as he was determined to do so. I asked him to share with me, but I will have to post it later. There are a lot of whimsical sculptures. We loved our time here, but you need at least 2 hours to see it all, especially in the summer and spring.
