I have a great neighbor who lives across the street from us. We met her the first week we moved in six years ago. She welcomed us and informed us of the strictness of the HOA, something we learned the hard way. She is kind and keeps an eye out for our house when we travel. Indeed, we once left our front door open and went away for the weekend. Shon kept an eye on the house, and when we returned, all was well.
She knows that as senior citizens, we can be forgetful, so when she sees the garage doors open late at night, she calls to ensure we are okay. She takes in our mail when we travel, and when I was ill once, she was the first to come and see if I needed help. One Christmas, she brought her three grandchildren who live with her and put on the best show of Christmas songs and recitations of scripture, since I couldn’t get out to see them perform at other places.
I do the same for her. If I see a strange car in her driveway when she is away, I will call her to check if all is well. We are on Facebook as friends, so we can communicate concerns. She is the best neighbor, and interestingly, of all the ten houses in our cul-de-sac, she is the only neighbor whose name I know. So, we look out for each other, and I thank God for her.
