My favorite websites are the blogs I follow on WordPress. I haven’t actually gone on Tumblr to look at the blogs, although I do post my blogs there. Nearly all of the blogs I follow are by poets or fantastic storytellers. I also love the ones that allow me to travel vicariously with them.
I thrive on the beauty of the poetry, and I realize that there are people blessed by God to write words that touch our souls and reaffirm the goodness of being alive. I can be having a rough day, and then, I open my emails and find a poem that helps me see the world from a different perspective. It is a daily dose of joy and a reminder of our shared struggle to be happy and at peace in the world.
I follow blogs from around the world, including Australia, Mexico, Canada, India, and Europe. When one blog shuts down, as a recent one did, I grieve at what is lost when a voice is quieted for any reason. I particularly love travel blogs, which let me witness the beauty of places I will never visit. I especially like it when the travel blogger goes somewhere I have been and likes the very same things. It bonds us together across the globe.
I won’t name the blogs here because some are private. But I encourage you to visit the Reader on WordPress and peruse some of the blogs that cover activities you love. Subscribe to those that you feel an affinity with, for they will bring you great joy and sweetness. You will make friends across the globe, and though you may never be face-to-face, the similarities in our soul desires and needs will make them no less friends than people you see every day.
