Finding the Road Back to Love Without Inhumanity: What Do You See?

In taking a walk through the landscape of my short life,

I followed the road of my mistakes and errors.

I was stunned at my race to supposedly future happiness,

To the violence that left me with sorrow and terror.

I made a blunder in believing the lie that inspires

Women to stand at the monument of men’s opinions,

With the thought that our value and worth are there,

Secure only when seen as deserving of a man’s dominion.

Escaping the barrenness of the gluttony of a man’s control,

I took the path back to safety, wholeness, and sanity.

Though the road had unexpected twists and worrisome turns,

I finally arrived at a place of love without inhumanity.

Written for the What Do You See # 313 from Sadje at Keep It Alive. I utilized the MLMM Monday Wordle #449. The prompts are follow, future, happiness, inspire, lie, mistake, monument, secure, short, stunned, thought, and walk. Ragtag Daily Prompt is Gluttony. The Daily Spur Word of the Day is Race.

  1. Oh I love your poem and this message of being our own person! Well done Regina. This is in fact what we need- women not seeking approval from men. Thanks for joining in.
