Living in the Joyous Hope of Christmas: Monday Wordle

Juliette couldn’t believe her eyes as she looked at the Christmas tree. Her dream of a real Christmas was coming true with the new adoptive parents. It was like she was in a fairy tale. The tree was huge, covered in tinsel, pretty ornaments, and gifts under it, some of them for her! There were pies with flaky crusts that she must taste to see if they are as good as they looked.

She hadn’t formed an opinion on the goodness of the residents of this new house, so she watched her step and tried not to wobble in her opinion on whether this was a good place or not. The thrust of the matter was that every time she thought she had a forever home, something happened, and she was moving again. The warm reception she received was wonderful, and in her pocket was a small rock given to her for good luck by the lovely lady who wasn’t quite fluent in English, speaking it with a beautiful French accent.

But she felt content for the first time in her eleven years. There were no instruments on the walls of this house to swipe her across her legs for being “bad, and the lovely lady and man told her she need not ever be afraid again. They were now her parents and would always love her.

It was the most joyful Christmas of her young life. She loved learning about the baby Jesus, who loved her. As she sat down later for a scrumptious meal with her new family, Juliette felt the hope of Christmas taught her at church: “For unto us is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord.” She had a Savior who would always watch over her. He was the best gift of all! She fingered the stone in her pocket and smiled with newfound hope.

Fictional story written for Monday Wordle #456. The twelve prompts are italicized. Fandango One Word Challenge prompt is Pocket. Ragtag Daily Prompt is Fluent. The Daily Spur Word of the Day prompt is Instrument. The Three Things Challenge prompts from Pensitivity 101 are thrust crust, and must.
