Take Nothing For Granted in Life: Friday Fictioneers

Watching the beautiful red flowers bloom usually uplifts my soul. But today it can’t lessen my anxiety about remaining at the castle. I learned a lesson: Do not take for granted that what we value in life will continue without our vigilance. I assumed my husband paid the bills, only to discover that was not the case.

Mr. Kennedy, the bank’s liaison, has come to negotiate a settlement of our debts. I declared my desire to keep the castle in my family, and I gave over my jewels. What good are diamonds when one is homeless?

Written for the Friday Fictioneers from Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Fandango One Word prompt is Declare. The Three Things Challenge #MM565 prompts are lesson, lessen, and liaision.
