When Nowhere Feels Like Home: Friday Fictioneers

Fiction written for Friday Fictioneers by Rochelle Wisoff.com.

Jackie had left Griffin, Georgia over twenty-five years ago, promising herself that she would never return. The pain of constantly being taunted and teased at school had nearly drove her insane. Her mother told her to come back and show the people that they did not break her, for she was a successful attorney now.

But Jackie didn’t feel like she had to prove anything, so she stayed away, not even going home on holidays. Now Mama is gone, and as Jackie looks at the old house laying in such disrepair, she realizes that without Mama, nowhere feels like home.
