Photo Challenge #243

I wonder what her story is? I don’t see anything to be so joyful about this early in the morning and on a subway train, no less! I would sure like to know Whomever or whatever she depends on to stay calm and focused while everyone around her seems bowed down by trials and troubles. I would pay good money to obtain some of it, especially because I can tell it ain’t drugs.

Her enigmatic smile reminds me of that poem we had to learn in sixth grade called If, by Rudyard Kipling. Just looking at her makes me want to add a couple of lines to the poem.

I would write: If you can keep a joyful countenance and share it with the world, when others have isolated their hearts and minds from each other, then you will be a woman, my daughter!
