In all of my travels abroad, I have never met an alien being. Instead, I found people everywhere who shared the same basic fears and worries: finding love, making a living, raising responsible and good people, and having more good days than bad ones. Travel reinforces the fact that people are more alike than they are different.

Often when I tell people of my love to travel, they ask me if I am not afraid of people who are “different.” But, that is the beauty of visiting other places: you recognize our common humanity when you sit and talk with someone in a foreign country, often through gestures, and realize that you are often looking at yourself. A smile is the same no matter where you go, and it will do more to stop wars than all the weapons in the world. Happy travels!

I wanted to join the Nurturing Thursday Challenge by Becca Givens from On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea, January 24, 2019: People. I added pictures from Alicante, Spain, to emphasize the messages.
It’s sad that people are so afraid of differences, when even in the same country, we’re all different in one way or another. Glad you joined Nurturing Thursday this week 🙂
