Redrawing Ourselves: Photo Challenge #250

In the midst of sadness and despair,

Possibilities abound for us to change.

We can alter the labels others give us,

Or we can choose to let those ideas remain.

But, when you’ve been the victim of oral violence,

And someone has declared that you have no worth.

Rather than believe it and let it define you,

Take this time to create your own rebirth.

Ask yourself if there’s anyone else who

Can offer the world what you think and do?

The answer is that you are so valuable

Precisely because there is only one you.

So, lift up your head and dry your tears,

And be proud of the you our God designed,

And do not let the ways that other view you

Cause you to lose your way or your mind.
