The Value of Denial: Weekend Writing Prompt

Jonathan was angry with his mother. At age 16, she had denied his request for a motorcycle. He thought, “How dare she tell me no! Nobody tells me that I cannot have what I want!”

His mother hated that he was angry, but she knew that denial is valuable for people. Getting everything one wants turns people into insufferably entitled narcissists, and that is not what she wanted for her son. He would have to stay mad!

Fictional story written for the Weekend Writing Prompt from Sammiscribbles: denial in exactly 77 words.
