It took many long hours on three planes,
And I am so glad to finally arrive.
Looking at my temporary abode,
It seems a place in which I can survive.
Flying leaves butterflies in my belly,
But it’s worth it to see the world.
To experience new cultures and peoples,
And to watch how their lives unfurl.
So, I lightly pack my trusty old backpack
That is starting to split at the seams.
And I go looking for weird adventures,
Ones that have been part of my dreams.
Now, I am in another wondrous place,
Mist covers the mountains like a shroud.
The journey to get here has ended well,
And now I’m ready for fun, uncowed.

That’s a really beautiful poem, it’s been years since I’ve written one, maybe I should take it up again. Thanks for sharing
