Jackie couldn’t be said to have any hubris,
She was too timid to take up for herself.
Her big sister, Janie, tended to fight for her,
So she would give Janie most of her wealth.
One day, Janie decided it was past the time
That Jackie learned to face her troubles.
So, with a nudge from her courageous sister,
Jackie changed and her bravery doubled.
Now when people confront or harass her,
And tend to get on her last good nerve,
She speaks up loud and clearly,
Giving them just what they rightly deserve.
Written for the Weekend writing prompt from Sammicribles: 94 words on the prompt of Hubris. Also, the Three Words Challenge #94: nudge, timid, and double.
Thanks for taking part today! Nice take on the prompts.
