There is no excuse that I haven’t heard,
As the reason for not getting work done.
Even the more timid will look in your eyes,
And tell you a whopper that he has just spun.
They look so hopeful when they tell lies,
Thinking they’ve pulled the wool over you.
But, after twenty years of college teaching,
There just isn’t any excuse that is new.
