He is cavalier to people hurting and dying,
And he is unable to feel compassion or empathy.
He sits surrounded by much splendor,
And cannot be bothered to feel any sympathy.
Calling for schools and colleges to reopen,
Regardless of the surges and spikes of disease.
How did we get so callous about others’ lives,
Not willing to wait for the pandemic to decrease?
Written for Weekend Writing prompt from Sammiscribbles. The prompt is Cavalier in 64 words exactly. I decided to retire rather than enter a college classroom in the Fall, and it saddens me that so many teachers and professors, young and old, don’t have the financial resources to do the same. My heart goes out to students and their families, as well.
Fandango prompt is Callous.
