We’d had some difficult days, what with the storms that had lasted for hours, keeping us off the waters that provided our livelihood and soothed our spirits. But, now, the waters were smooth once again, and we could row out and fish for hours at a time, letting the silence between us stretch into joy at being together and doing what we love.
Tonight, she will have a cherry cordial and I will drink wine, and we will celebrate the wonderful catch of today that brought in big bucks. Then, we will lay in each other arms and speak of love and of our concerns. This is where we talk.
Fictional story written for Three Things Challenge from Pensitivity 101: cordial, wine, spirit, and for the Photo Challenge #331 from Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. Also, includes August Writing Prompts from Putting My Feet in the Dirt: difficult days.
