Save the Trees: 100 Word Wednesday

As she looked up at the heights of the trees, twenty-something Fiona grieved. Each year of mounting temperatures meant that it was unlikely that her future grandchildren would witness the beauty of the redwoods that towered over her.

She love walking in the forests because the sheer height of the trees made her feel small and her problems seem small, as well. It was a terrible thought, but the forests are prone to catch fire, as the heat and droughts continue. She still hoped that measures to curtail climate change would be implemented, to save the trees and the planet.

Written for the 100 Word Wednesday from Bikurgurl: 100 words exactly. Also, the Three Things Challenge # from Pensitivity 101: unlikely, terrible, and prone.
