The late morning was clear and crisp as Sawyer stepped out of the travel hostel, trembling in excitement at his good fortune to become a travel blogger! To be paid to travel, write, and take pictures, three of his favorite activities, made this job just perfect for him!
His parents wanted him to return home to finish his college degree. But after that first trip to Norway on the Study Abroad program, he’d made a promise to himself to see the world now while he was young and healthy.
His remarkable eye for detail had made his photographs so beautiful that people had written comments that he should sell them on his blog, Traveling Young Man. He made more than enough from the sale of his pictures to travel, albeit frugally, thus, the hostel instead of a hotel or Airbnb apartment.
He knew that the education he would get from talking to people in various lands and learning and experiencing different cultures would be greater than sitting in a classroom listening to a professor. He did plan to go back to college and complete his degree, but after he had traversed the globe.
So, with camera in hand and joy in his spirit, he set out to have the adventure of his life. He knew that there would be obstacles and that he would have some bad days, but what better way to learn of the generosity of people’s souls and of who he was capable of becoming than having to ask for the help of strangers.
It was a win-win all around!
