Her picture adorns the mural in her old neighborhood,
Where every day is one of struggle just to survive.
This incredible young woman gave so much of herself
To the others while she was vibrant and alive.
She didn’t do for the least of her neighbors
For accolades like having her picture on walls.
Instead, she sought to live her Christianity true,
To honor and obey the One who heard their calls.
She fed the hungry and helped to cloth the naked,
Even though she didn’t have much money to start.
She had the ability to see each person’s humanity,
Demonstrating what it means to have God’s heart.
Written for Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #98. The eyes on the mural reminded me of kindness and love. Beautiful picture.
Beautiful story Regina. Wishing you a Happy New Year. Stay safe and healthy. 🥰
