Gigi assembled her planners, her calendars, her pens, pouches, and post-its before her on the desk and stood over them like a general surveying maps. She prepared to teach her beloved students. She was tenacious in her teaching, so that her children were educated, in spite of the virus or snow. Zoom wasn’t the best strategy for teaching, but she could connect with her students, see their beautiful smiles, and encourage them daily.

Love the mention of Zoom in connecting with the students. Working from home the in-thing now. Wonder what happens when under-privileged students are not equipped with laptops.

I was a professor, and when we went to Zoom, I was stunned to learn of students at the community college that used laptops at school. I had assumed that everyone had access to computers today. I had to reassess my lessons and give extensions, as some of them worked. It has worried me about under-privileged children needing computers. A very real dilemma.
