Sometimes You Just Gotta Speak Up: Sunday Writing Prompt

Each day as she looks with sadness at the carpet

That graces their bedroom floor,

Ginny wishes that she had spoken up,

Rather than being mad as she left the store.

Her husband had agreed that she would

Have equal say on the choice that was made.

But, when he settled on the carpet of his choice,

She stayed quiet, not wanting her anger displayed.

So, she is daily stuck with a floor she hates,

And to add injury to insult, as they say,

Her husband also doesn’t like the carpet,

Saying he didn’t realize it would look that way.

So, sometimes you just gotta speak up,

So your days are not filled with winces.

Because if you stay silent at that moment,

You’ll have to live with the consequences.
