Many think that we are grumpy old people in need of assistance,
Who should consider themselves fortunate to have lived so long.
But we still have an inventory of gifts to share with the world.
We aren’t sitting in fairgrounds prepared to sing our swan song.
Instead, we choose to embark as graduate students in the academy,
Recipients of vouchers that allow seniors an educational ride for free.
We don’t need special formulas to help us succeed in our classes,
Because of the knowledge of how the world works, we have no paucity.
So, don’t put any restrictions on what you can accomplish at your age.
Step into the classroom and dazzle those young ones with your wisdom.
Then bow at the thunderous roar of applause as you cross the stage,
Preparing to use the knowledge gained in ways no one could envision.
Written for the Wordle #335 from Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. The twelve prompts are in bold. The use of paucity was a stretch, but I’m not looking for perfection at my age.

Well done

Wonderful use of the words, and so very true. Us older ones can still learn, and teach others as well.
