Psalm 33: 13-17 The Lord looks down from heaven; He observes everyone. He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from His dwelling place. He alone shapes their hearts; He considers all their works. A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength. The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power.
So much is happening today, with two wars in the media and so much bad news regarding how people treat others across race, gender, social class, and political ideology. It is enough to put fear into your heart or to have the heart faint. But the scripture today reminds us God alone shapes the heart, knowing what the heart needs, as He sits high and looks low. He sees everyone, so our needs and desires are not alien to Him.
He knows the battles we struggle with each day, and He hears and answers our prayers, for He alone knows when our hearts are sincere in praise to Him and His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord. He is our strength and salvation, who will save us in due season. No material element we possess will deliver us from evil or any human being, but He will be our deliverer, keeping us safe in His arms.
So, keep trusting in the Lord, allowing Him to shape your heart for good works towards others. Let him fill your heart with the love of Jesus for everyone, particularly for those we too often feel are different from us. Let His rod and staff comfort you in these times of tremendous sadness and grief amid two wars.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” He will shape your heart with His understanding and wisdom; victory will be yours, whatever you face today.
Amen.

It is so encouraging to be reminded that the Lord shapes my heart. He is my strength and salvation. My focus must be in him, instead of my circumstances. When I praise and worship him, I am reminded of what he does for me. I am not alone, God is with me, and physical strength fails but God does not! Hallelujah!
