A Break to Say Hello and I am Still Here

Between teaching a course twice a week and taking a class online twice a week, I have had little time for blogging. I made many plans for writing but forgot that I had passed the “three score and ten years” mark. I am enjoying teaching and have one more week of classes and finals for my students. I will then have another two weeks for the class I am taking and a final paper, thankfully due one week after I submit my grades.

I think you will remember that I quit the Master’s program because I received two F’s when I had to quit so quickly. I didn’t want the failing grades on my record, so I applied for an emergency withdrawal from the two classes. My doctor wrote a letter explaining the situation, and I wrote a heartfelt plea for not realizing that you couldn’t withdraw at any time. When I was a graduate student and taught at this same university in the early 2000s, you could withdraw until the last week of the semester.

Hallelujah, I received two medical emergency withdrawals, and my doctor, in her letter, informed the university that I could still take online classes, but not face-to-face classes, at this time. They changed the Fs to Ws, and my GPA returned to 3.90. I received an email that I could return if I wanted. As someone who hates quitting what I start, I signed up for one class, which I LOVE, and I am doing quite well in it.

I try to read posts every day and make comments on them. Indeed, one of the people I am following went into hospice care last week, but she was still writing her inspiring and encouraging posts. I pray for her and her family every day. She has been such an inspiration to me, and she is a fighter. There wasn’t a post today, so I hope for the best. Her resilience in writing reminds me of the importance of blogging in our lives, for it connects us to people who become friends at a distance but are no less caring and supportive of us.

So, I wanted to say that I am still here, loving life even amid some physical issues that sometimes seem overwhelming but are not life-threatening. I started again on my book, and I look forward to Christmas break to write and organize chapters already written. I want especially to write on my other blog, Huldah’s Sisters, because I am, first and foremost, a Christian blogger who loves to write stories. I need to start copywriting my stories, but I don’t know how.

So, I am still here and thankful to be doing what I love: teaching and learning. I hope to organize my life during the Christmas break to write more. Maybe I will write about my adventures in the classroom, which might put hair on your chest.

  1. I am glad you are still here. I have just recently returned to blogging myself after an almost three year hiatus because of the change in ministry. I am working through the changes and learning how to write again in my new context.
