Covid Finally Made an Appearance in Our House

The only “good” thing about catching COVID at this time is that I had just taught my last class of this 8-week semester and had the time to rest my seventy-something body. I was already behind on blogging, teaching two college courses, and taking two graduate courses, and now I am really behind. I hope that once the symptoms disappear, I can write more consistently, especially my Sunday Devotions.

Thankfully, I have taken all the booster shots over the last four years, and it feels like I just have a bad cold. I did not get prescribed medication, as I missed the window for the treatment, so I just treated the symptoms naturally, such as salt water gargle for sore throat. My husband, Douglas, took the Paxlovid, and he experienced side effects that I am glad that I don’t.

I now only have eight weeks to complete my two graduate classes, and I have more time to study for my classes. I still have grades to post and am waiting for all students to take their final exams. So, hopefully, starting next week, as Monday is the due date for grades, I can return to writing my blog.

I preached a sermon recently at my new church, and I feel that I have found where I am meant to be. I felt restless at my husband’s church because I was not where God wanted me to be, but it was perfect for him, as he is now the Director of Evangelism there. We attend two different churches, but we get to use our talents and gifts.

I was stunned to be asked to speak for the Black History Month Sunday and at the 10:45 service when I had been a new associate minister for just five weeks, but I had felt in my spirit to buy a pulpit robe with the doctoral bars. I thought I had wasted $400, but God knew my plans for life. So, in spite of COVID, I am happy.
