To Touch the Face of God Just One Time is the Job I Would Like!

Daily writing prompt
What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?

I would love for just one day to be a commercial airline pilot. I would like to feel the absolute thrill of revving the motors, putting my feet on the accelerator, and enjoying the feeling of hurtling down the road at 200 mph. I can’t believe there are more glorious moments in life! The irony is that I drive the speed limit or less, but I have been known to floor to 80 in a 65 mph zone without realizing it.

I also think that being in the clouds, experiencing the beauty of floating through the air so close to heaven, must be fantastic. To seem as though you can reach out and touch the face of God would be so lovely and humbling. I would start praising God for all his great deeds in my life. I would revel in the nearness of my Creator and the One who loves me best in the world.

To have the knowledge to fly such technical machinery would be a gift. I marvel when I look into the cockpit and see all of the equipment that a pilot and first mate must learn and master to keep a planeload of people safe until that wonderful moment when the plane descends and touches down. Earthbound again! Marvelous!

I really enjoy seeing the women pilots with their wings. That means that I could have done the job, but considering it took me until age 50 to learn to drive a car, being captain probably was not my destiny. But, oh, what I would give to fly one of those big boys, soaring through the air at 500 miles per hour and reassuring everyone on the flight that all is well. What a joy that would be! Hats off to all the pilots who have taken me around the world, especially those who demonstrated a great sense of humor. I applaud you all for safe landings in all manner of weather! Bravo!

    1. Judy,
I would be scared in any plane too small to carry about 100-200 people. I was in a small plane once where we could see the pilots. My supervisor whom I was traveling with said later that she never heard anyone call Jesus so many times. We felt every turbulence! Never again. But, what a joy youre friend experienced.
