Ode to a Tomcat

You lived all nine lives, you wonderful old tomcat,

And to see you memorialized is great fun.

You’d take on any cat or dog who dared you,

Leaving them hurt when the fight was done.

The volume of the noise when you fought

Let everyone know that you were for real.

You screeched and scratched to the utmost,

Instructing all around that you were the real deal.

Your stripes indicated that you were special,

Initially meant to be the top of the heap.

I so miss seeing you strut your cool stuff,

But this wall means your memory we will keep.
