To A Forever Friendship

I pasted your picture on the wall,

So, I don’t forget the bond we shared.

You were a friend most extraordinary,

For more than fifty years, we were paired.

Fellows wondered about our friendship,

Because we were opposites in many ways.

You loved to shop, and I loved to read,

But we were pals for nearly all of our days.

Even now that you are in Heaven with God,

I find myself thinking, “I wish for one more call.”

But all I can do when I need to talk to you

Is talk to your picture that’s on my wall.
