Seeing Beyond the Walls for Our Soul’s Benefit!

Walls are built to divide and keep some sights or people from each other. But travel teaches us that behind every gated wall and national border are people who are just like us, struggling every day from the moment the alarm bell rings until lights out at night to live a decent life with as much joy and courage as we can find. When I travel, I love to go to grocery stores, for there you see the similarities that we share, each of us squeezing fruits, checking prices, wondering if it will be steak or chicken for dinner. I find contentment in stores as people smile at you, for they recognize a kindred soul.

Travel tends to destroy biases and prejudices. I have found that some of the most beautiful memories of travel come from daring to go beyond the walls and borders meant to divide us and seeking the soul of the people and the majesties of the places that make our souls sing and remind us that life is meant to be lived fully every day.
