My husband and I are in Bilbao, Spain. We went to the Guggenheim Museum yesterday, and it was great! The art was exciting, disturbing, interesting, and beautiful. The architecture in Bilbao is wonderful, and we look forward to visiting the Old Town on our last day here on Monday. As you can see, there are quite a few visitors but nothing like in the peak of the summer. It’s no problem seeing the art, which happens when we travel in June.
We have averaged 14000 steps a day, and yes, Douglas found a disc golf course near here, and he had over 24000 steps on Thursday. He went alone to play, while I recuperated from long walks. It is the walking I love so much in Europe. We also tried the pintxos or tapas, like little sandwiches, and they were very good and just enough to taste something different.
We are staying outside of Bilbao in a city called Getxo, because it was a lot cheaper than hotels and rentals in Bilbao. So, we have learned to ride the train, which is always exciting. We chose not to rent a car and to use public transportation as much as possible. We have a tour planned for Sunday and then we head to Portugal on Monday to be with children and grandchildren once again.
I am still not 100 percent well, so I had some difficulties with breathing on long walks, and I failed to note that the Airbnb rental was on the top floor of a building without an elevator. Climbing three floors leaves me wheezing a little, but overall, God has blessed me to be able to enjoy this wonderful dream come true. Here are a few pictures. After I will learn how to add more than one picture at a time, I will share our adventure with you when I get home. Tomorrow, we visit the Game of Thrones castle and fishing villages. Then, it is off to hugs and family for us. I thank God that I was able to come.
