Answers to questions from Pensitivity 101 Share your World

Would you consider 2024 to have been a good year?

I think 2024 was a neutral year, meaning not as good as I hoped for but not as bad as it could have been. A couple of hospital stays but also the birth of my 13th great-grandchild. I wanted a different outcome for the presidential election, but I realize that for me, what’s important is to remain hopeful. I am hoping to stay healthy in 2025.

What has been the highlight of 2024 for you?
The trip to Spain and Portugal, hands down. I fulfilled a 25-year dream of going to Bilbao, Spain. It was glorious, as we took in the Guggenheim Museum that I had wanted to visit since 1999. I learned to never give up on your dreams, but also to make today be that “someday.”

Did you keep any New Year resolutions if you made any in January?

I didn’t make any New Year resolutions last year because they tended to stress me out and to make me feel like a failure when I didn’t reach my goals, especially regarding weight. I would end up eating an extra two or three donuts as comfort food for my hurt pride and aching soul. So, I stopped self-harassment and just hope for the best in all areas of my life. At my age, just to be alive another New Year’s Day is an accomplishment and a bonus, since I’ve passed the three score and ten mark.

Are you looking forward to 2025?
If you had asked me this question on November 6, I would have said no. But, oddly enough, I am looking forward to 2025 because each new year brings with it new opportunities, new beginnings, and chances to do something better, such as remember my blessings. I also think that every day should be approached with hope and a determination to make life better for yourself, your family, and for your community, in some way. So, here’s to 2025. Give it your all!

Gratitude:

I returned to attending church with my husband instead of going to different churches. Sitting next to my husband during worship is one of the best feelings. I was also thankful to preach a couple of times in 2024 at both churches, and to still have people remember the gist of one of the sermons, that God is the “Somehow” when we don’t know how we made it or how we will make it through or endured the difficulty moments.

  1. Thank you for sharing your world. Glad you got to fulfil a dream. I think as we get older (I’m 68) it’s a sense of achievement. Hope 2025 is good for you and your family. Congratulations on the birth of your 13th great grand child! Wow.
