2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
It is so easy to get caught up in politics and lose our focus as people of God. But, remember that we are children of the Most High God, and He alone should be worshiped. When the children of Israel asked for a king to judge them in 1 Samuel 8, they were warned about the consequences when one person has control over all of their property and over their very lives. But they did not listen. God saw it as a rejection of Him, not the prophet Samuel.
As members of a democracy, we must be vigilant in seeking the truth in all matters, not allowing ourselves to be deceived into believing lies. When truth cannot be determined because the media will not allow it, then we must pray and ask God for discerning hearts.
Let’s remember whose we are, for the Lord requires us to love each other and not allow anything to separate us from the One who is the Truth. Embrace the King of kings today!
Amen.
