The Fall That Keeps on Giving

I am still here. I’m posting only a few times a week, but I’m hoping for a change in my health that will allow me to blog more. If you remember, I fell in Vienna nearly three months ago. I had to have an emergency root canal, and I thought that was the end of it. But I am still having pain in that tooth, and a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery tells me that there is at least one more tooth that will need to be extracted because it is cracked.

I’m not sure why the dentist didn’t notice this, but I suspect I only mentioned the pain in the front of my mouth, not realizing the whole right side of my face was hurting, and she concentrated on that one spot. The good news is that I didn’t break my jaw, as after nearly three months, I am still having jaw pain and pain in my nose, which is why I was referred to the specialist in oral surgery.

The other issue from the fall is my right shoulder, which hurt a little after the fall, but then I fell again in my bathroom, and hit the bathtub hard with the whole right side, landing on my backside. So, the excellent oral surgeon, who was most thorough in his examination of my entire body, advised me to see an orthopedic surgeon for the neck and shoulder. He informed me that I would probably need physical therapy. I was amazed because I have been losing the ability to use my right arm without pain radiating down from the shoulder.

So, I have quite a few doctor and dentist appointments ahead. But I am so grateful that I have not broken a hip or anything else. I blog when I can get past the headaches and fatigue that have accompanied this ongoing nightmare. I am still joyful to be on my feet and able to enjoy the things that bring me joy, like preaching on Sunday when the pastor had Covid. So, this isn’t a pity party but simply allows me to let my readers know that I am still kicking. I hope to be more consistent soon, as I miss responding to your excellent prompts.
