Sometimes You Can’t Find A Good Compromise!

Annette and Kathy were twins who each loved getting their own way. They decided to have a joint 21st birthday party. But Annette wanted a beautiful white cake, and Kathy demanded a fuchsia cake covered with lots of butter cream.

Their mother, Julie, determined not to buy two cakes, chose a batter that was part white and part fuchsia, trying to give both of her daughters their wish. When the cakes came out of the oven, she was alarmed at the awful pink that developed, like a well-known tummy remedy.  Julie decided the better option was to buy two separate cakes, a decision that led to a great evening for all.

Fictional story written for the Stream of Consciousness for October 25 challenge from Linda G. Hill: alarm is the prompt. The Three Things Challenge prompts from Pensitivity 101 are Butter, Batter, and Better. Ragtag Daily Prompt is Fuchsia. The Daily Spur Word of the Day prompt is Twin.

  1. Ah, I’ve had my fair share of cake disasters, which have been covered in custard and called a Di surprise. I often used to make a pink cake with jam and frosting, but you only needed a drop or two of colouring.
I would have covered this one in strawberries or raspberries and lathered cream all over it!
Thanks for using the 3TC Regina. Glad the party was a success!
