I love people, not in a romantic way, of course, but I hopeit shows in my actions. That means being compassionate, caring, helpful, and remarking on people’s value and worth. I hope that my smile relays to others I meet that I see them and recognize our similarities and not our differences. Therefore, I hope I live in ways that are just, merciful, and humble, as noted below.
I hope people know that I am someone they would like to learn and spend time with, sharing life stories, triumphs, and struggles. I want to listen to other people’s lives. In their narratives about themselves, I marvel at the strength of human beings, our resilience in difficult times, and the ability to overcome the impossible. I am amazed at what people survive and are still able to love the stranger with the love of God. How strong we are in the land of the living.
I hope that people know that I love a good laugh, the kind that makes you forget any trials in your life. Laughter that emanates from our bellies and cleans our souls of resentment, anger, and hate for those who have hurt us, freeing us to once again be joyful people. So, I love making people laugh, and people comment on my wonderful sense of humor.
Lastly, I hope that they say that they can see Jesus in me. I hope to treat people nicely so that when I tell them God loves them, they can believe it. I want to be a walking testimony to the goodness of God. I don’t ever want to discriminate against anyone or call them names, but realize that we are all struggling to get this journey called life right.
