When traveling, organized group tours help people meet a couple of goals. First is a tour guide knowledgeable about the place who handles all of the small details, like lunch, particularly if you can’t speak the language. Second, they help you meet people from all over the world. By the end of a group tour, you know each other and look out for each other, making sure no one gets left behind.
In the hours that you spend together, you learn about people’s lives and realize just how similar we are. A camaraderie develops that turns people from strangers into colleagues. People invite you to sit at their table, enjoying your company. It is a really good way to meet people, to learn about other places, and to feel a common humanity.
