Slowing Down, But Not Stopping

It’s the case that I don’t move as fast as I used to,

So my celerity in walking is really way down.

My knees hurt a little more than usual,

But, thankfully, I can still pretty much get around.

I was amazed at learning that my dependable

Knees and hips would only last me so long.

One day they are your best friends,

And the next day they aren’t nearly so strong.

When I was younger, I took it for granted

The magic of moving as fast as you please.

Now I wish I had listened when I was told,

“Slow down! One day you’ll need those knees!”

Written for Stream of Consciousness Saturday from Linda G. Hill: cele-. I chose celerity, which means swiftness of movement. Fandango prompt is Case. Word of the Day is Learning. Your Daily Prompt is Magic.
