Watching the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian,
The utter destruction in its wake.
I feel the Earth groaning beneath my feet,
Asking, “People, what more will it take?”
I don’t know how to answer the question,
As I contemplate the electric sky.
Research is seen as liberal gibberish,
Not believed, no matter how hard scientists try.
I will amass many of my car trips into one,
Seeking to lessen my effect on the Earth.
It’s a small gesture, I am more than aware,
But, I still value this planet’s worth.
