Joshua sat by the riverside,
Feeling alone without a friend.
Then along came a turtle so large,
Blown in by the force of the wind.
It wasn’t by mere happenstance
That this strange event occurred.
Joshua had cried out his sorrows
To the sea, hoping to be heard.
The turtle seemed aloof,
Uninterested in getting involved.
But, after hearing his anguished cries,
He couldn’t leave the matter unresolved.
He went to Joshua and said, “Young man,
The sea has heard your cries this day.
Get on my back and I’ll take to a place
Where many friends await to play.”
