People tell you to show a little backbone
When you’re struggling with much pain.
Buck up, stop whining, and be strong
Are words they say over and over again.
But, in this life, there comes a time
When you just need a little bit of help.
No matter how hard you’ve tried,
You can’t get better all by yourself.
What you need is a kind word or two
And maybe someone’s gentle touch,
To let you know that you’re not alone
When the road ahead seems rough.
Let us bend over backwards for others,
Showing much empathy, love, and grace.
Remembering that in times of tribulations,
Empty cliches simply have no place.
Written for Tale Weaver #266 from Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. The prompt is backbone. Sometimes it’s not a lack of backbone why people can’t find their way, it’s the weight of the load and a need for someone to recognize their humanity. Fandango prompt is Bend.
Excellent words of wisdom Regina, thanks so much for adding your thoughts this week.
